Traditional drum mixers are loaded at concrete plants often miles away from its customers. As soon as the mix is batched it starts going off while the truck drives to site. Long distance, traffic delays and warm weather means the customers has very little time to place and level the concrete before it goes off.

Your measurements must be obsolutely exact if you are to avoid over or under ordering from a drum mixer. Once it is batched into the drum it is your whether there is enough or too much. If they have to take anything back you may well be charged extra!

 

Wheelbarrow jobs

Barrow Type - Must be a builders wheelbarrow available from most builders merchants or tool hire shops. A garden barrow will break after 3 or 4 loads.

How many barrows and helpers will I need? A cubic meter of concrete weights about 2.5 tonne (2500 Kgs) and it takes about 25 builders barrows to move 1.0 metres of concrete. Each barrow weighing 100 Kgs approx.

We recommend at least 1 builders barrow and 1 adult per cubic metre to move the concrete reasonably quickly. Depending on the amount you order we generally allow 30 - 45 minutes on site after which we may make a small waiting time charge.

Fresh cementitious material can cause serious burns to skin and eyes as well as skin disease and dermatitis. DO NOT swallow.  Keep out of reach of children.  Immediately wash off any fresh cementitious material from skin and thoroughly wash out any affected eye. If swallowed do not induce vomiting but seek immediate medical advice.
Wear protective clothing (goggles, gloves, impervious boots, trousers and long sleeved clothing).  Immediately remove any clothing or other item saturated with cementitious material and wash thoroughly before re-use.  Seek medical attention if any symptoms persist or in case of doubt.
